Aimchess has not shut down. As of July 20, 2026, its website is offering subscriptions and its iOS and Android listings are still available. The last public mobile releases were in June and July 2024. That long silence suggests maintenance mode, but Chess.com has not announced that development has ended.
Aimchess is still there. The site loads and still advertises Premium. Its mobile apps are also listed in the App Store and Google Play. What is missing is any clear sign of where the product is going next.
Here is what I could verify as of July 20, 2026.
The Aimchess website offers Premium for $7.99 a month or $57.99 a year. The US iOS listing currently shows different in-app prices, so check the amount shown by the store before subscribing.
The iOS app is still listed at version 1.3.1, released June 28, 2024. The Android app was last updated on July 2, 2024. I found no later public mobile release.
That does not prove that all development stopped. A web product can receive server-side changes without an app release. It does mean there has been no visible mobile release for roughly two years and no public roadmap that I could find. I would describe Aimchess as live but quiet, probably in maintenance mode. Chess.com has not said that it is abandoned.
You may have seen a third-party listing that gives July 10, 2026 as the date Aimchess disappeared from the App Store. That date is wrong.
On July 20, I checked the US, UK, German, Indian, Brazilian, Canadian, and Australian storefronts. The listing was present in all seven, under seller Chess.com, LLC, at version 1.3.1. A web listing cannot prove that installation works on every device, but the app had not been removed from those storefronts.
The complaints are real, but the record is mixed. In one December 2025 thread, a subscriber said they had been charged and could not use Premium. Aimchess support replied two days later, and the subscriber then reported that the issue was fixed. Other users have described longer waits or unresolved feature problems. Forum posts are useful examples, not a reliable measure of Aimchess's overall support performance.
If you are still paying:
The games Aimchess analyzed still exist on Chess.com or Lichess, and their game records can usually be exported or read by another tool. Aimchess-specific information is different. Completed lessons, training history, streaks, study plans, and other progress do not automatically move with you. Alternatives also differ in which platforms and import methods they support.
Chess.com now has newer statistics tools, including Advanced Stats, while Lichess has been testing Tutor. Neither follows the exact Aimchess workflow. I compare the practical options in Aimchess alternatives in 2026.
I build Chessdock, so this is a competitor writing about Aimchess. The dates and links are here so readers can check the important claims without taking my word for them. If something is wrong or Aimchess ships an update, please use the contact page and I will correct it.
If you currently pay for Aimchess, or paid for it in the past, I would also like to hear which parts you actually used. I am especially interested in whether the weekly plan, peer comparison, or training from your own games was the reason you subscribed.
